What is your current age or age range?

49

What country are you native to?

Britain

What area of Sweden do you current live (Providence, City, general area etc.)

Vallentuna, just north of the capital Stockholm

How long have you lived in Sweden?

Can it really be 12 years?

When you moved to Sweden, did you bring your family? What do they think?

I came for work and met my husband, also an ex-pat, here.

Did you leave your family behind? How do you handle the separation?

I left my family behind. The first year or so was very difficult and I missed them all terribly.

What made you decide to relocate to a different country?

I came for work but stayed because of love.

Why did you choose Sweden, or what factors helped you to decide to choose Sweden?

I didn't choose Sweden deliberately but had a good job opportunity here. Although, I must say, that it is a fantastic place to be if you have kids.

What other countries did you consider? Why didn't you choose those?

Australia - we're too old.

Was it difficult to get the documents you needed to live and/or work there? (residency and/or working permit)

No, pretty easy.

What was the most difficult part of the transition?

Learning a new language and having no friends.

What was the biggest mistake you made in the transition to living in Sweden?

Not being diplomatic.

What was the easiest part of making the transition?

Making friends at work.

Do you plan on returning to your home country? Why or why not?

No, because I think Sweden is a much safer and pleasanter place to be.

Do you miss your family, friends or old home and habits?

I miss my family a lot! Especially my parents who are getting on now.

What do you miss the most about your home country?

Mild weather!

Are there the same recreational activities in Sweden?

Yes.

How easy has it been to make new friends in Sweden?

No, not until the kids came along.

Do you have many friends from your home country in Sweden?

No, not really.

What are your favorite activities that are available?

Dog walking. Walking in the woods.
