What is your name?

emma joyston-bechal

What city?

Marrakech

Where did you move from?

London, UK

What made you decide to move there? (Work, family, spouse, personal decision, etc.)

Sun, business opertunities, private schooling and health care, short flight only 3 hours from the UK. Great beaches, soon skiing and many places in morocco to visit

How much time had you spent in your new country before you moved there?

10 days

How much stuff did you bring with you? (Clothing, personal property, art, car, etc.)

1/4 of a lorry and our suit cases

What did it cost to make the move?

about 4 thousand pounds but we got one back from a rental deposit on accommodation here when we first arrived.

How long did it take you to get settled and figure out where everyday things are, like the grocery store, post office, etc?

It took a year to get settled there is alot of beaurocracy and paperwork here.

How does it feel to be a foreigner in a new place? How differently do people treat you, and how does it make you feel?

Great. The Moroccans think you have alot of money and that is difficult to get fair prices for things.

Do you speak the local language? How does this affect your experience?

A little bit im going to learn more. It makes a big difference speaking arabic and you need to speak some french to get by.

What do you do for entertainment?

Restaurants, friends houses, beach, shopping in the souk

Are you happy with your decision to move, or would you rather be back home, or in some other country instead?

Very happy

Why would you (or wouldn't you) suggest to others to move there?

There is alot of opportunity right now in Morocco for entrepreneurs. The climate is fantastic, the moroccans are friendly.

What is your website?

Hi Emma,

I’m working on a ITV show Wish You Were Here!

We were in Marrakesh in 1981 and we would like to go back to see how Marrakesh as changed.

We plan to be in Marrakesh from 10th November.

We are currently looking for people who have come on holiday to Marrakesh

and have decided to move and buy a beautiful property there!

If you would like to be part of our show, we will very much appreciate your help.

Best Regards Rosario Pirrone
