Two years

When you moved to France, did you bring your family? What do they think?

They're in college in the States

I'm a lifelong Francophile

What was the most difficult part of the transition?

Figuring out the plumbing

What was the biggest mistake you made in the transition to living in France?

Thinking that I knew all the answers

What was the easiest part of making the transition?

Speaking French

Do you plan on returning to your home country? Why or why not?

Yes, often

Do you miss your family, friends or old home and habits?

Yes, often -- but lots of visitors come here!

What do you miss the most about your home country?

The smell of autumn leaves in New England

How easy has it been to make new friends in France?

Fine

What are your favorite activities that are available?

Paris at my doorstep

Do you speak the language of France?

yes

Do you think it is crucial to know the language in France, or can you get by with a handheld translation dictionary for a while?

It really helps

Learn to speak some French and read "French or Foe" by another Polly, Polly Platt.
